High Deductible Health Plans - HRAs & HSAs

Once you implement a High Deductible Health Plan, Meritain's web-based tools provide high quality information and advice for members.  Account balances are readily available on-line.

HRA

A Health Reimbursement Account, or HRA, is an account that contains benefit dollars contributed by the employer to assist with satisfying the high deductible.  This defines a High Deductible Health Plan. 

In the structure of a High Deductible, Consumer-Directed Health Plan, HRAs may be rolled over from year to year and accumulate to satisfy deductible requirements, cover non-reimbursable medical expenses such as prescriptions, co-payments, over-the-counter medications, or non-covered qualified dental and vision care.

With participation in an HRA, members receive:

  • Choices on how to spend their health care dollars

  • Discounts on covered and non-covered qualified medical expenses

  • No out-of-pocket charges for preventive care

The HRA is non-portable, and funds return to the Employer if the Employee leaves the company.  At Meritain Health, we administer HRA programs and their "roll over" features with a high degree of accuracy. We are currently servicing these programs for many customers and have references available upon request.

HSA

A Health Savings Account, or HSA, is a portable, flexible, interest-bearing account that can be funded either by the employer or the member. 

In the structure of a High Deductible, Consumer-Directed Health Plan, HSAs provide a catalyst for you to move into a Consumer-Directed plan with the peace of mind that you're providing for your employees today, and helping you plan for tomorrow.  HSAs are a smart choice in a world where a standard pension can't be the only option for your employees' security.

The Health Savings Account, or HSA, is an individual investment account that belongs to the employee.  The account contains pre-tax dollars contributed each pay period by the employee, as well as benefit dollars contributed by the employer.

With participation in HSAs, members gain:
