Get Up and Run With Wellness: Why TPAs Should Consider Offering a Wellness Program to Their Clients

More employers than ever before are looking for help in designing and administering health promotion programs for their employees. In fact, a recent survey by Forrester found that 27% of employers will be using health promotion programs as their primary cost-cutting strategy over the next two years.1

TPA giant Meritain [Health] also recently announced a new wellness service for its groups. According to Janice Rahm, Meritain's Senior Vice President of Product and Service Development, the new service is a response to two key factors. The first was a recent study that found that more than 85% of the diagnoses made today are preventable. The other was the increase in the number of groups who requested help in starting a wellness program from Meritain. Across the industry, over the past two or three years, the number of requests to wellness vendors has been significantly higher than any activity in recent history.
