(September 17, 2007) - Meritain Health, the nation's largest independent provider of self-funded health plans, today announced the name change of recently acquired benefits administrators CBSA PERFORMAX and Weyco under the single name of Meritain Health. Meritain Health acquired Weyco in August 2006 and CBSA PERFORMAX that December. The brands have operated under their respective legacy names since the acquisitions, while also identifying themselves as Meritain Health companies. The Meritain Health name is a combination of two words, merit and attain, illustrating the services the growing organization continues to offer - helping clients control costs and creating behavior change among employees. Meritain Health has grown to an employee base of more than 1,300 in 30 offices nationwide since the acquisitions last year, and is better able to deliver services to all parts of the country through its regional processing centers and by having sales and service offices near its 1,400 clients. "We are pleased to bring the unique dynamics and attributes of these companies under the name of Meritain Health," said Jacob L. Canova, Chairman and CEO of Meritain Health. "Through our continued offering of value-added products and services, our talented management team and employees will embody the idea that 'Meritain' stands for promoting wellness and positive behavioral change among employees by providing them with the tools and incentives to lead healthier lifestyles." Meritain Health's capabilities continue to multiply with each acquisition. Meritain Health launched its Cost Management Strategies division in April to contain clients' costs by proactively monitoring high-dollar claims and potential waste and fraud. In May, Meritain introduced Healthy Merits, a total population management program designed to identify chronic conditions and produce positive behavior change among members. About Meritain Health Meritain Health is the nation's largest independent provider of services for self-funded health plans. Meritain Health serves over 1,400 self-funded clients and over a million members nationally.
