Thomas Applehans Joins Meritain Health

(Buffalo, NY, Oct. 31, 2007) - Meritain Health, the nation's largest independent provider of services for self-funded health and wellness plans, today announced the addition of Thomas Applehans as Regional Vice President of Sales. In his new role, Applehans will be responsible for new business development and sales of self-funded benefit plans in Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and southern parts of Nevada and California.

Applehans brings more than 15 years of sales and sales management experience in the insurance industry to Meritain Health. Applehans came to Meritain from Great-West Healthcare, where he served as a national account manager and was responsible for financial analysis, strategic planning and day-to-day relationship management with clients. Prior to this position, Applehans served as a relationship manager/producer at Aon Consulting Worldwide, where he produced new business revenue and helped the company reach its production goals.

Applehans is a board member and legislative chair of the Colorado Group Insurance Association. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing and a Master of Science degree in finance from the University of Colorado.
